Heavy Rain Causes Ghaziabad Road To Collapse, Car And Scooter Fall Into Ditch

Due to heavy rainfall, a road caved in near Atal Chowk in Vasundhara and a car and a scooter fell into the ditch.Monsoon rain which was heavy brought normal life to a standstill in various parts of Delhi-NCR on Thursday with waterlogging, a road cave-in, fallen trees and severe traffic congestion being reported.

Ghaziabad Schools Closed
Schools in Ghaziabad, from nursery to Class 12, remained closed on Thursday after heavy rains and waterlogging across the district.
The closure order was issued on the directions of the district magistrate on Thursday morning. The district Basic Education Officer (BSA) said the order is applicable to all government, private, aided and unaided schools affiliated with recognised education boards.
Waterlogging in Noida and Ghaziabad
Several parts of Noida and Ghaziabad were extensively waterlogged due to the downpour.
In Noida,the streets in Sector 115 were under water and residents had to wade through knee-deep water. The traffic was also severely affected in Shastri Nagar of Ghaziabad due to flooded roads.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for all the 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Delhi Roads Waterlogged in Heavy Rain
One of the worst affected stretches was the Mehrauli-Badarpur (MB) Road in the national capital where severe waterlogging led to traffic coming to a standstill.Waterlogging was also reported in Burari and long traffic queues could be seen on NH-24 near Akshardham temple.
Several Trees Fall Across Delhi
In Delhi too, there have been several incidents of trees falling due to heavy rainfall.Two big trees fell on Raja Dhir Singh Marg in East of Kailash in South Delhi late on Wednesday night. The trees came down within 600 metres of each other, one near the ISKCON Temple and the other near the National Heart Institute.One car was caught under one of the fallen trees but no injuries were reported despite the usually heavy footfall around the hospital.
The incidents happened a day after two luxury cars were crushed by a falling tree on the same stretch. The traffic police staff were pressed into service to regulate movement and clear the affected area. In another incident, a tree fell on a car in Ranjeet Nagar following heavy rain in the national capital.
